Another week balancing the demands of work with the chaos of family life.

With the summer holidays in full swing, my girls and I spent quality time at the stables, preparing for the winter ahead.

As any parent knows, summer holidays can be a mix of fun and challenges. This week’s challenge was all about preparing for the muddy winter months ahead – a task that’s no small feat when you’re juggling rug boxes with a laptop.

But as I watched my girls work alongside me, I couldn’t help but draw parallels between this experience and the work I do every day.

Just as we’re laying the groundwork for a smoother winter, in my professional life, I’m always working to create strong foundations for my clients – whether it’s developing a brand’s tone of voice or writing a compelling landing page.

This week I enjoyed collaborating with two incredible creatives – Alex Jones of The Origami Fox and Katie Walden Illustration.

Our meeting was to refine the tone of voice, key messages, and keywords for a new project.

There’s something incredibly energising about working with other creatives, and just what I needed to push through the next phase. I’m excited to take those insights and apply them as we move on to creating a landing page for the target audience.

It’s all about striking the right balance between creativity and strategy. Just like finding the right balance between work and life, especially during the school summer holidays.

Whether it’s preparing a stable and ground for winter or preparing a brand for launch, the key takeaway from this week is the importance of preparation. Laying strong foundations – whether in muddy fields or on a blank webpage – ensures that the final product not only stands strong but also endures the test of time.

As I continue to juggle the demands of work and family life, I’m reminded that both require the same principles of resilience, creativity and strategic thinking. And while Andy, our girls and I will undoubtedly face a few more challenges before the summer is out, I’m hopeful that the work we are doing now – both at home and in our careers – will make a positive difference in the months to come.
