Created After a Chance Encounter
I am a Cheshire girl, who crafted my copywriting and public relations skills in West Yorkshire.
I received my first break in the competitive world of journalism about 20 years ago when I joined Johnston Press as a Trainee Reporter.
I subsequently became Chief News Reporter and was nominated for ‘Yorkshire Reporter of the Year’.
I covered a wide range of hard news stories, feature articles and business related news. From interviewing celebrities and leading politicians to creating front page leads, I loved spotting an interesting angle for a story.
It was just when I was thinking of a move into television that a job at West Yorkshire Police caught my eye.
In 2007, I left print journalism to work as a communications officer for the fourth largest force in the country. I managed press conferences, wrote press releases, supported senior police officers and provided media training.
After leaving the police it was a chance encounter with another mum that led me to establish my own small copywriting and public relations business. She needed help in increasing online engagement for an occupational healthcare company.
Through repeat business and word of mouth referrals, I set up Sophie Seddon PR and continued my love of writing.
I live and work in Honley, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire. With a lively Golden Retriever and busy family life, it is on my walks through the beautiful Holme Valley that I tend to gather my creative thoughts.
As ‘Seddon’ suggests, our family motto has always been ‘said and done’, and with me, your words are in safe hands.
